Section 1 – Course Administration

 INTRODUCTION

The Air Cargo and Mail Security Course has been designed to provide aviation security personnel with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to implement, manage, and oversee air cargo and mail security measures in accordance with international and national aviation security requirements.

The course is based upon the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) contained in ICAO Annex 17 – Security, relevant guidance material contained in the ICAO Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973 – Restricted), and applicable national aviation security regulations and programs.

The course emphasizes the secure supply chain approach to air cargo and mail security and provides participants with practical knowledge regarding the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders involved in protecting air cargo and mail against acts of unlawful interference.

  1. COURSE AIM

To enable participants to integrate ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices into their operational responsibilities and contribute effectively to the implementation and oversight of air cargo and mail security measures within a secure supply chain environment.

  • Experience in aviation security operations.

Desirable Qualifications

  • AVSEC Instructor Certification.
  • Civil Aviation Authority approval.
  • Cargo security operational experience.
  • Audit or inspection experience.
  1. STUDENT ASSESSMENT

Assessment consists of:

Continuous Assessment – 40%

Final Examination – 60%

Minimum Passing Score: 80%

  1. COURSE RULES

Participants missing more than 10% of instructional time may not be eligible for certification.
